A Bible thrown out of the window

As the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, ... so shall my word be ...; it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish ... the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10.11

A Bible thrown out of the window
Two passengers were engaged in a peaceful conversation on a train taking them through Georgia. Suddenly, one of them discovered that the other speaker was a pastor. The conversation dried up. The pastor took his Bible out of his bag and read a few passages from it. It had no effect. Everyone in the compartment remained seated as an icy silence descended.

Shortly afterwards, when the pastor returned from the toilet, he saw his conversation partner shutting the window. His Bible had disappeared. The two men looked at each other without uttering a word. A few months later the pastor was visited by an unknown person.

"I want to be baptised," he said. - "What church do you belong to?" - "I don't belong to any. I have read the Bible and recognised that I was a sinner. I have come to know the Saviour-God.

Distrustful, because he had been forbidden to distribute Bibles and preach the gospel, the pastor asked him, "How did you get a Bible?" - "In the course of my work I had to inspect a building near the railway line. A train passed, and an object landed at my feet. It was a Bible."

"Have you got the Bible with you?" - "Certainly, here it is!"

The pastor took the Bible and recognised it as his own.

A few years later, with religious freedom re-established in the country, an assembly of Christians was formed in the village of that new convert.

Today's reading: Lamentations 1:1-11 · Psalm 42:1-6

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
