His last haircut

Man dies and where is he?

Jesus promised His disciples: I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Job 14: 10; John 14: 2.3.

His last haircut
A sailor in his best years was suffering from worrying signs of a serious illness and had therefore decided to consult a doctor. Being immediately admitted to hospital gave him the dreaded confirmation of his suspicion. Shattered at the prognosis, he went to the first hairdresser he could find. When he sat in the chair, he said, "Get on with it, and make a good job of it!. It's my last haircut before going to hell!"

The hairdresser was a true believer. Tactfully he inquired after the reason for such a frightening announcement. While working on his customer he told him of his own faith and future: namely, that he believed in the Redeemer Jesus Christ and would go to be with Christ in glory at his death.

The man returned to hospital only to hear the fatal diagnosis: inoperable cancer.

Some weeks later a nurse brought the hairdresser the news of the sailor's death. She handed him a note, on which the sailor had written the words, "Not to hell - to Jesus!" in very shaky handwriting.

"While I draw this fleeting breath,
If my eyelids close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
Still of Thee I'll sing alone:
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
All my boast and joy's in Thee."

Today‘s reading: Deuteronomy 28: 33 - 69 · Galatians 5: 1 - 10

The only true attitude for the Christian is that of dependence...

I am come from heaven, not that I should do My will, but the will of Him that has sent Me.
(John 6:38)

The only true attitude for the Christian is that of dependence. The moment we get off the ground of dependence on God we are sure to come to grief. This is true both individually...More

Are You Feeling Insecure? (3)

The Lordsaid to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth." '
Jeremiah 1:9 NIV

The people God calls usually start out feeling ill-equipped and insecure. Indeed, if you jumped and said, No problem, Lord, I can handle that,' He wouldn't call you at all. You say, but I've made so many...More

CO-PILOT USED SKY DEVIL' LOG IN

Be reminded that evidence from the cockpit voice recorder suggests that Mr. Andreas Lubitz, 27, the killer co-pilot of GERMAN WINGS FLIGHT 9525 locked the cock pit door when Capt Patrick Sondenheimer, 34, also of Dusseldorf city, left for a toilet break and used controls to override the entry code, crashing the plane...More
