Christ, the Victor over death (1)

He who was dead sat up and began to speak. And he presented him to his mother.
Luke 7: 15.

Christ, the Victor over death (1)
When Jesus was here on earth, He raised three dead persons to life, two of them young people, one a grown man. He thus proved Himself to be the Victor over death before destroying the devil and therefore of no use to God. Neither he himself nor any others could free him from this condition; not even his mother's tender love could help him.

There was only One who had the authority to say, "Young man, I say to you, arise!" and indeed, "he who was dead sat up and began to speak". That was the first thing he did; so it was recognisable that he was alive. This is instructive for us. We are not told what he said. It must have been joyful words. Such words characterise all who have received life in a much more precious form: eternal life.

If any young Christians are reading these lines, let us ask you: "Have you testified that you have obtained new, eternal life?" Don't hesitate to do so. Such a witness produces joy and may well cause others to want to get to know Jesus Christ, your Lord.

(to be continued tomorrow)

Today‘s reading: 1 Samuel 30: 11 - 31 · Colossians 2: 6 - 15

The only true attitude for the Christian is that of dependence...

I am come from heaven, not that I should do My will, but the will of Him that has sent Me.
(John 6:38)

The only true attitude for the Christian is that of dependence. The moment we get off the ground of dependence on God we are sure to come to grief. This is true both individually...More

Are You Feeling Insecure? (3)

The Lordsaid to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth." '
Jeremiah 1:9 NIV

The people God calls usually start out feeling ill-equipped and insecure. Indeed, if you jumped and said, No problem, Lord, I can handle that,' He wouldn't call you at all. You say, but I've made so many...More

CO-PILOT USED SKY DEVIL' LOG IN

Be reminded that evidence from the cockpit voice recorder suggests that Mr. Andreas Lubitz, 27, the killer co-pilot of GERMAN WINGS FLIGHT 9525 locked the cock pit door when Capt Patrick Sondenheimer, 34, also of Dusseldorf city, left for a toilet break and used controls to override the entry code, crashing the plane...More
