God can count

Does he not see my ways and count all my steps?
Job 31: 4.

God can count
This morning the mother of the family baked biscuits for the afternoon tea and put them in the dining-room. "Oh, what tasty biscuits!" exclaimed Louis, "I'll take one."

"You mustn't!" said Anna, firmly holding his arm. "Mummy won't be pleased; they're for this afternoon."

"Mummy hasn't counted them," said the boy.

"No, but think what the Lord Jesus said: ʻThe very hairs of your head are all numberedʼ. God can see you" (Luke 12: 7).

God can indeed see us. King Belshazzar discovered that once. At a feast that had got out of hand Belshazzar suddenly turned as pale as death when a hand appeared and wrote four words on the wall of the banqueting hall: "numbered, numbered, weighed, divided." The prophet Daniel explained their meaning to the king: "God has numbered your kingdom and finished it. You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. Your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians:" That same night the king was killed, and the kingdom of Babylon passed into the hands of the Medes and Persians .

God can see us, and He judges our life. Whoever rejects His Son Jesus Christ will suffer eternal punishment for the guilt of his life. But we should not regard God as a hostile watchdog . On the contrary, He loves us. He watches us, so as to advise, help and comfort us in the circumstances of our life, and because He wishes to save us from eternal perdition.

Today‘s reading: 2 Kings 11: 4 - 20 · John 21: 7 - 14

Not I but Christ

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
