The divine solution to human problems
Mankind's fundamental problems remain, and will always remain, the same. The gospel is not a form of human wisdom that will pass out of fashion. It is an eternally pertinent message concerning God and His love that is directed to us all. The existential problems of man are well known: he needs to be loved; he needs hope in face of death, he needs to be freed from the consequences of his disobedience towards God. The gospel answers his deepest aspirations and shows how our relationship with God can be established: namely, on the basis of Christ's death and resurrection.

The purpose of the gospel is not just to diagnose man's situation; it proposes to transform him. It does not want to identify our problems: it states their solution. It testifies of God's extraordinary love towards us and shows how far that love went in order to save us from certain condemnation: indeed, as far as giving Jesus Christ, His own Son, into death to free us, so that henceforth we can live in His presence.
