A Spiritual Checkup (2)

‘I the Lord search the heart'Jeremiah 17:10 NIV
How do you measure up when it comes to: 1) Obedience.' Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you' (Hebrews 13:17 NKJV). Do you consistently obey the things you know God wants you to do? Do you submit to the guidance of those God's placed over you? Do you pray for them and thank God for the deposits they make into your life? 2) A pure heart. ‘If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness' (1 John 1:8-9 NKJV). Do you confess your sins specifically and by name? Do you purpose to forsake your sin the moment God reveals it to you? 3) A clear conscience. ‘Istrive to have a conscience without offence toward God and men' (Acts 24:16 NKJV). Do you seek forgiveness from those you've offended? Is your conscience clear with God and man? 4) Confidence before God. ‘If our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence towards God. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight' (1 John 3:21-22 NKJV). Have you moved beyond merely ‘right or wrong', and asked yourself, ‘How will this affect my confidence before God?'

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
