Redeeming the Time

Watch therefore, for ye do not know when the master of the house comes: evening, or midnight, or cock-crow, or morning; lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. But what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.
Mark 13:35–37 ???

Redeeming the Time
I went to the airport three hours before flight departure as required. I registered, did the police security requirements, and then, as the flight was not to leave for two hours, I went with the brother who accompanied me to the refreshment area for a soda pop, and we visited together before boarding. As we talked together, we heard a plane arrive. A number of people went to the gate, and then a short time later the plane started to leave. We looked and saw that it was my flight. Without announcement the plane left an hour and a half early. Many of us were left behind.

This reminded me of the coming of the Lord. We know He is coming and it could be any time. Unlike the airport, there is no schedule, no set date or hour of departure, but He said, “I come quickly” (Rev. 22:12). As we see the condition of the world around us—the moral decline, the opposition to the gospel, the upheaval both financially and politically, the frequent number of major natural disasters globally, the downward trend of holiness and dedication in Christianity—we are convinced that the Lord’s return cannot be far off.

So what are we doing? Are we busy, redeeming the time? Are we working for the Lord, or are we sleeping or distracted by things that do not matter? How many of us are chasing after the wind?

We need a fresh vision of a lost world. We need a fresh vision of the ultimate destruction by fire of the world and all of our possessions in it.

Revive Thy work, O Lord; give power unto Thy Word;
Grant that Thy blessed Gospel may in living faith be heard.

CONDESCEND!

After seeing their plight, hearing their cries and feeling their pains, God came down to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. Our God is a mobile God. He comes down to deliver His own. As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

Yesterday we discovered that our Lord Jesus Christ is the number one champion and that He makes His people champions. We also saw that a divine champion is a person raised up and supported by God.

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
