The Things Concerning Himself

Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
Luke 24:25–27

The Things Concerning Himself
As the Lord Jesus drew near to these two disciples, they were heavy of heart and occupied with their disappointment and deflated anticipations. When our hearts are heavy, it has a tendency to affect many areas of our lives, even our perspective on the future. By the end of this chapter, we see that the Lord Jesus changes their perspectives, changes their hearts, ultimately changing their direction. They go from sad hearts to burning hearts, from shattered dreams to supreme delight. What made the difference? It was the presence of the Lord and the opening of His Word!

First, He takes time to draw near to them and walk with them. He is willing and waiting to do this with each of us, if we allow Him to. Second, He draws them out, observing their behavior; He listened to their hearts as they poured them out to Him. Peter encourages us to cast our cares upon Him, knowing He cares for us (1 Pet. 5:7). His ears are always open to hear the cries of His own! The third thing the Lord does is to present the correct mindset before them. Where can we find the correct thinking and outlook? Where is the truth to be found, but in the Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16–17)?

The Lord expounds or explains the Scriptures to them because it is only there we are able to interpret the present and gain strength for what is ahead! And above all, it opens to us “the things concerning Himself.”

THE GREAT DELIVERER

God is great but He humbles Himself to the level of His children to deliver them. The one who will deliver you must be stronger than the enemy holding you captive. The reason He is able to deliver is because He is stronger than all your enemies put together. This is why in

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
