Living water (6)

The woman said to him, I know that Messiah is coming (who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things. Jesus said to her, I who speak to you am he. The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, Come, see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ? Then they went out of the city and came to him.
John 4:25-30.

Living water (6)
The Samaritan woman's encounter with the tired Jewish traveller had been full of surprises: He had condescended to speak to her; He had humbly asked her for a drink; then He had offered her "living water" and finally revealed the state of her life.

That the stranger must be a prophet was clear. But then He had spoken so impressively about God as the Father and dismissed the religious traditions of Samaritans and Jews. Was this stranger possibly the long awaited Messiah, the Son of God? The woman cautiously introduced the subject. Now the moment had come when Christ could reveal Himself to her: "I who speak to you am he."

Overwhelmed by the presence of the Redeemer, the woman forgot why she had come to the well. She left her waterpot there and hurried to the town, to share this tremendous news with others.

She told them that Jesus was acquainted with her whole life - He must be the promised Messiah! She put it as a question, but without any doubt, but rather in amazement at what she had experienced with the Son of God. And the others came to know Jesus, too. Finally many believed that Jesus is "indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world" (vv. 39-42).

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
