October 7, 2015 Today's reading: Joel 1 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. Psalm 16:5-6 As a Man, the Lord Jesus had no earthly possessions. Here below He desired nothing. He was a stranger who had "nowhere to lay his head" (Matthew 8:20), and "the world did not know Him" (John 1:10). But in God He was rich! God's presence was for Him the greatest and most precious thing. There He found the pleasant places that occupied His soul. As the Son, He was ever "in the bossom of the Father" (John 1:18) and in that perfect unity with the Father that existed before His incarnation. Accordingly, He enjoyed practical fellowship with the Father as a Man. He was thus the "Son of man who is in heaven" (John 3:13). It was His desire to return there. So He said to His disciples, "If you loved me, you would rejoice because I said, I am going to the Father" (John 14:28). However, before He entered heaven as the glorified Man, the work that the Father had given Him had to be accomplished. On His pathway in this world, He drank "of the brook by the wayside" (Psalm 110:7). The anticipation of heaven filled His heart, but His communion with His Father refreshed Him here, as it indicated by the inheritance and the cup. If we follow His footsteps as believers, we, too, shall be sustained by the expectation of the heavenly inheritance and strengthened by our present blessings from God. Nothing should be more precious to us than fellowship with Him. Then the lines will fall to us in pleasant places. Our heavenly inheritance will take on a form that we can better imagine. |

She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God. (John...More |
The LORD is near for Sunday, December 22, 2013 by Jacob Redekop, Brian Reynolds, John van Dijk, Eugene P. Vedder Jr We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities,... We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart. (Hebrews 4:15) There are those who would use the truth of the real manhood of the Lord Jesus and His gracious, sympathetic identification with our humanity as an...More |
Open Heavens for Wednesday, June 18, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More |
