He was standing at the motorway service station signalling for a lift. When I stopped beside him, he jumped in. We soon started talking. The subject was Jesus Christ. It happened like this: I inquired after his profession, and he said, "By profession I am an architect, but I have given my job up to seek after God. At the moment I'm living in a monastery."

"How interesting!" I replied. "I, too, gave up my job some time ago, because I had found God and wanted to tell others about Him."

It goes without saying that a lively conversation then began. I suggested that we should stop at a parking area to discuss how one can find God. We read the third chapter of John's gospel together and noted that everyone must be born again and that everyone who does not believe in the Lord Jesus is condemned already. We talked about God's love in sending His Son for us, and that all who accept Him as their Redeemer receive eternal life.

We prayed together, then continued the journey. When he got out, I gave him a New Testament. I have never met him again and wonder whether we shall meet in heaven.
