An eternal salvation

For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are … sanctified.
Hebrews 10:14

An eternal salvation
Hebrews 9:22 says, “Without shedding of blood there is no remission.” This is God’s requirement for a sacrifice to satisfy His justice.

In Matthew 26:28, at the institution of His supper, the Lord Jesus declares, “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” This is the basis upon which God can forgive sins.

In Acts 10:43 we read, “Through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” This is the way we received divine forgiveness at our conversion. Now every redeemed person can say, “Thanks be to God that my sins are forgiven, for so His Word tells me.”

But what if I sin again? Will I still be lost? No! The precious blood of the Redeemer has an eternal effect. Its application to me and my sins is valid forever. “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are … sanctified.” This makes my heart calm and gives me assurance of salvation.

However, this does not give me a licence to sin. On the contrary! The awareness of the love of my Saviour, who suffered so terribly for me on the cross and shed His precious blood, will keep me from sinning. If I still stumble, I can restore my relationship with the Lord Jesus with a simple but sincere confession.

Today’s reading: Genesis 45:1-15 · Psalms 32:1-5

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
