The good Shepherd (2)

I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
John 10:14

The good Shepherd (2)
Just as a shepherd knows his own sheep, so the Lord Jesus maintains a personal relationship with His own. He calls them to follow Him and goes before them to guide them in the path of faith. Through the Word of God, He instructs them and strengthens their faith. They can pray to Him at any time and bring Him all their joys and sorrows. Because He loves them, He answers their prayers in a way that is good for them.

This relationship between the Good Shepherd and His sheep is mutual:

The Good Shepherd knows you! He knows your past with all your failures. Nevertheless He loves you. He also knows your weaknesses. He knows when you are down. That is why He can give you new courage through His Word at just the right time. He knows your family circumstances, your problems at work, your state of health. He understands you when you are mocked because of your faith, when friends abandon you, when you are mourning the loss of loved ones.
You can know the Good Shepherd! From the Bible you can learn who He is. The four Gospels particularly show you how He dealt with people, what He said to them and how He behaved in different situations. But you also get to know the Lord Jesus in everyday life, how He helps you, how He listens to your prayers, and how He is with you in every situation.

Today’s reading: Isaiah 7:1-25 · Acts 23:1-10

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
