During the wilderness journey...

The LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.
Deuteronomy 2:7

During the wilderness journey, the people of Israel had wonderful experiences with their God. What they experienced in the wilderness is similar to what we experience in our life situations. The same care that God showed His people then, He also shows us now.

“For a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness” (Acts 13:18). God cared for His people like a mother lovingly cares for her baby. Similarly, God now surrounds us with His care. Nothing escapes Him that could trouble, oppress or discourage us.

“Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell” (Nehemiah 9:21). Israel never needed to suffer hunger, lacked clothing or had to limp. And us? God wants to daily nourish the new life in us with His Word, influence our behaviour for the better, and secure our steps on the path of faith.

“And it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness” (Amos 2:10). Through the pillar of cloud, God led His people in the trackless desert. God wants to guide us through His Word and His Holy Spirit so that we find the right path and stay on it. It is up to us to pay attention to His Word and not resist His Spirit. With such a God, we too will reach our goal – a heavenly one!

Today’s reading: Leviticus 7:1-21 · Psalms 53:1-6

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
