Not making the same mistake again!
In the year 1898, the novel Titan was published. The eponymous ocean liner is in this story the largest ship of its time, measuring 244 metres in length, and is considered unsinkable. With 3,000 passengers, it leaves New York for Europe. During its voyage across the Atlantic, it collides with an iceberg and sinks. Only 13 people survive.

In 1912, the Titanic is put into service. It is 269 metres long and can carry 3,000 passengers. Like its predecessor, it is the largest ship of its time and is considered unsinkable. On its maiden voyage from Europe to New York, it strikes an iceberg and sinks. Only 712 people are saved.

But there is another sad coincidence: In the novel Titan, there are too few lifeboats – just like 14 years later on the Titanic. What the writer, one of the best storytellers of maritime tales at the time, created, repeats itself in reality: a ship is built, the largest of its time, but too few lifeboats are planned – perhaps out of economic calculation, perhaps out of arrogant negligence.

Unlike the novel Titan, the Bible isn’t a work of fiction; no, God is the author, the originator (2 Peter 1:21). There, He writes that all people are lost – but they can be saved in the “lifeboat” of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. And unlike fiction and history, all people have a place, all can be saved. But one must board the “lifeboat” – otherwise, there is no rescue possible.
