The Word of God

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8

The Word of God
What people say is ultimately always uncertain and temporary. Often they have to correct or retract their statements. In contrast, God’s Word endures forever.

Everything He has communicated to us in the Bible is absolutely true: “Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89). This encourages us to trust God’s statements unreservedly.

He has promised: “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). Every day and every hour, we can count on His presence and His help. We are never left alone because God does not abandon us.

He has promised: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye” (Psalm 32:8). God can guide us in the right way that honours Him and is good for us. He wants to advise us in all matters of life.

In Psalm 121:7, the promise is given: “The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.” God wants to preserve us on the path of faith so that we do not suffer harm. He protects us from the dangers that threaten us.

The Son of God gives us the promise: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3). He will fulfil this word and bring us to Himself in heaven. This hope will never disappoint.

Today’s reading: 2 Chronicles 5:1-14 · 2 Timothy 2:7-13

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
