Repentance and faith

And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have showed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 20:20-21

Repentance and faith
Today's verse from the Bible shows us two necessary steps, without which it is impossible to be saved: repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ. Repentance signifies a radical change of heart. This is no outward exercise, but an inner process that affects a person's heart, the central control of all his actions. Whoever repents turns to God, not sparing himself or his past. Repentance leads to a radical break with sin and a confession like that of the prodigal son in Luke 15:21: "I have sinned." Whoever has repented thinks henceforth differently about himself and his life.
Through repentance, someone looks back over the wrong in his life and re-assesses it. Through faith, on the other hand, his eyes are fixed on Christ, the Son of God, and His work of redemption. The sinner recognises God's grace and love in Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, who made atonement for sin and grants eternal life to everyone who puts his faith in Him.
Faith looks to the cross of Calvary, where Christ took the guilt upon Himself through His sacrificial death and bore the punishment for it. The believer's heart and conscience thus find perfect peace. He knows that he is justified by the precious blood of Jesus Christ and cleansed of all sin. He will not come into judgment.
Today's reading: 2 Timothy 3

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
