Thoughts on the Epistle to the Romans (110)

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him.
Romans 6:8.9

Thoughts on the Epistle to the Romans (110)
Paul starts his argument from the fact that "we died with Christ". This we know not by reasoned knowledge or our feelings, not by the experiences of daily life, but by faith in what God has said.

Faith draws the conclusion that a Christian, having been made one with Christ, is also united with Him in the sphere of resurrection. So we now live on this basis through Him and with Him.

As far as Christ Himself is concerned, we know that He left the sphere of death once for all time and returned to heaven after His resurrection.

Christ's resurrection was not simply a raising to earthly life as in the case of Lazarus (John 11). Lazarus was enabled to live for a further few years after being raised, but then died once again. In His death Christ, on the other hand, vanquished its power. Death wielded power over Him for merely a short time, and then only because He submitted to it voluntarily.

A believer belongs to this new order, in which Christ lives as the victorious risen One, already at the present time. And he is able to lead a life of faith in the power of the resurrection.

Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
